Notice that he gives no actual evidence for this claim. He just states it as a fact and moves on. The “Trump is a racist” narrative is so played! What Dr. Watson fails to appreciate is that one of the real drivers of some of the attitudes he is deriding stems from a growing sense among many young people in “flyover country” that no matter what they do, they will be called racists anyway, so why not just flirt with alt-right white nationalism? When you harry people into a corner, don’t be surprised when they come out swinging. Young people are more malleable and more likely to skip on the edges of areas older people, with more settled principles and instincts won’t go no matter what. You might just be surprised how many racists have been created by the false charge of racism… Be more careful with your accusations: no accusation has ever helped heal a divide. Dr. Elwood, do you really want to heal the divide? I for one am skeptical.
